Recently a skunk sprayed my dog right on the head. It was a new thing to me. If you have tomato juice on hand then skip to step three. What I found to help was washing the dog immediately not letting her touch anything. First wash the spot only careful not to spread the oil on the rest of the dogs body. Step two wash the whole body. Third step go get some tomato juice and brush it on your dog carefully not to get it in their eyes. Leave on for a couple of minutes and then rinse. Try to do this again in a week or so. The smell can last up to three months if it gets down to the skin. It is an oil that needs to break down. If it gets wet once it had gone down to the skin the smell reactivates. It is a horrible smell and made my poor Smoochie poo sick to her stomach for the day. Not to mention my bathroom wreaked for a week.

Hope this doesn’t happen to you.

Good Luck
